Manufacturing
Indian factory orders are rebounding, with the manufacturing PMI at 55.1.
The September reading is up from 52.8 in August, with new orders growing at their fastest pace since February.
Why it matters: Input costs rose faster too, driven by electronic components, pharmaceutical items and steel, so planning and margins matter more as volumes grow.

Technology
Phones are getting pricier because of memory costs.
IDC says India’s average smartphone selling price hit a record $315 in Q2 2026, up 14.4%, as the global memory-chip shortage raised component costs. Shipments fell 11.1%.
Why it matters: Buyers priced out of entry-level phones moved up: shipments under $100 fell 74.3%, while the $400–600 band grew 60.3%. One component cost shock can reshape a whole market.

Real Estate
India has the world’s most mature flexible-office market.
Cushman & Wakefield’s maturity index gave India a score of 100, ahead of the UK (98), France (97) and the US (81).
Why it matters: Savills reports that flexible operators took 18% of office leasing in India’s six largest markets in H1 2026, up from 16% a year earlier. Flexible space is now mainstream.

Regulation
India’s main data-protection duties begin in May 2027.
Notice, consent and security-safeguard obligations under the DPDP Rules take effect 18 months after the rules were notified on 13 November 2025.
Why it matters: Failing to maintain reasonable security safeguards can attract penalties of up to ₹250 crore. Knowing where personal data sits and how consent is captured is a sensible place to start.
